Alongside this nostalgic revival, there’s a renewed emphasis on timeless essentials, plus a few newcomers fighting for space in our coat closet. Ready to dive in?

THE RETURN OF COCO

It’s gone by many names, the Chanel coat, the Coco jacket, and now (because nothing hits feeds faster than a catchy nickname) it’s being referred to as “the Cardiget”.  This short waist, fitted jacket was made famous by, you guessed it, Coco Chanel herself, who sported the look everywhere. Traditionally made of either tweed or bouclé, this is a jacket that’s sophisticated and unabashedly fem-forward.

Speaking of ladylike, this blue tweed version by Boston Proper checks all the boxes, including a bonus dash of lovely pearl trim that will look instantly chic with your midi, or pair with your favorite tee and jeans for a whole different character take.

Boston Proper, Pearl Trim Tweed Parisian Jacket $170

Take this iconic jacket and give it a *chef’s kiss* of utilitarian, and viola! you have sleek fashion with functional design.

Summersalt, The Icon Ponte Jacket $115

Craving even more pockets? This french tweed by Elie Tahari has what you’re looking for, and it comes in this season’s on-trend red.

Elie Tahari, French Tweed Button Jacket $239.20

(on Sale NOW from $598)

Another great refresh on this classic silhouette? Reinvisioning it in unexpected materials, such as leather.

Rebecca Minkoff, Taryn Leather Jacket $648

Finally, if the style has you curious, but you’re not ready to go full fitted, Parisian brand Joie has a fun, oversized version in the cutest of pinks…

Joie, Delia Jacket $89 (on Sale NOW from $328)

BACK IN BOMBERS

The return engagement we all saw coming. Bombers are back for 2024, albeit we’re seeing much less of the super oversized versions. Instead, feel free to pull out your cute and cropped, along with your more classic version.

Speaking of classic, you can’t go wrong with the iconic olive version.

Windsor, There She Goes Woven Bomber Jacket $49.90

This silky satin one can be your new go-with-everything LBJ (little black jacket)

Windsor, Next-Level Cool Satin Bomber $46.90

Looking for something more cozy? This bomber is double-lined, with a cute faux-sherpa collar that’ll keep you warm on those chillier spring mornings.

Universal Thread, Plus Size Bomber Jacket $38.25

Craving something a bit more collegiate? This varsity style version is giving top marks all around.

Finally, for a full on, 2024 new take on the bomber, this brand new collab of a jacket from Y-3 and adidas offers high-tech fabric PrimaLoft® insulation and a very cool, asymmetrical front closure. If this is the one for you, better grab it while you can, bc this one is going fast.

adidas + Y-3, The Y-3 Bomber Jacket $700

FAUX-EVER LEATHER

Long gone are the days when the mention of faux leather was usually followed with a sneer. As manufacturing has evolved to create more and more realistic material incarnations, designers and brands across all levels now offer many faux and/or vegan leather pieces.

Like this fab faux leather jacket that takes the slick, moto style jacket and combines it with one the season’s biggest trends – transparency. The result is a unique piece that totally slaps.

Windsor, Faux Leather Illusion Striped Jacket $49.90

For the traditionalists out there, never fear, the classic motorcycle jacket is still very much in style.

Wilsons Leather, Faux Leather Cycle Jacket $55

Of course if we’re talking staple pieces, a faux leather blazer in rich, chocolate brown is forever in style.

Windsor, Trendy Oversized Faux Leather Blazer $59.90

We did mention bombers were back, right? So why not make this buttery beauty your new next buy?

Karl Lagerfeld, Metallic Faux Leather Bomber Jacket $169

Or if you prefer earth tones over metallics, this brick brown blazer is the perfect grab-and-go for the day.

Ava & Viv, Cropped Faux Leather Blazer $29.75

Starting with this sweet and sophisticated baby blue button up coat from Boston Proper.

Boston Proper, Classic Tailored Coat $119.98

Finally, this camel-colored cutie was inspired by another up-and-coming trend of the season – the peplum.

DREAMY IN DENIM

An ode to the forever classic…the fitted denim jacket. No matter the wash, the color, the number of pockets & buttons, this time honored jacket continues to be THE one item every gal should have. Here’s some serious trending ones for this spring…

Is there anything more quintessential spring than the crisp white denim jacket?

Boston Proper, The Essential Denim Jacket $95

Who doesn’t love a good hoodie? Add this laid back denim version into the rotation for a look that hits different from your standard cotton.

Windsor, Laid Back Cool Denim Crop Hoodie $46.90

Because festival season will be here before you know it. This dark wash denim is great on its own but really excels thanks to the addition of rocker-inspired rhinestone fringe.

Windsor, Rocker-Chic Rhinestone Fringe Denim Jacket $69.90

This trucker jacket from Alex Mills will put you in a sunny disposition, and not just because of the color. It’s made from recycled denim and we found it on sale. YW!

Alex Mills, Trucker Jacket In Recycled Denim $92.50

(on Sale NOW from $185)

Finally, we have this military-inspo version in a dark olive denim. With its cinch crop hem and oversized pockets, this jacket will look just as amazing with this season’s barrel leg jeans as it will with a simple tank dress.

Windsor, Fashion Boot Camp Denim Bomber Jacket $54.90

WINNING THE UTILITY GAME

Another strong showing is the return of the utility jacket for spring. Unlike last season’s oversized versions, this year’s utility jackets are following the trend back towards a more classic size, or in some cases, that 90s cropped look.

Case in point, this slightly cropped khaki version from Democracy Clothing.

Democracy Clothing, Button Front Utility Jacket $98

Here’s a great example of designers taking the working class nature of the utility coat and re-imagining it in a more luxe material (in this case soft, supple chenille).

Proenza Schouler White Label, Spread Collar Chenille Shirt Jacket $695

If you are more of the purist, this utility jacket by Barbour is exactly what you would expect a blue collar worker to want. Plenty of large, useful pockets, a cozy polyester lining in traditional Barbour tartan plaid, and a pre-waxed fabric on the outside, making it naturally water-resistant (no PFCs needed).

Barbour, Winter Defense Wax Jacket $315

Thick materials feeling a little too heavy for your vibe? This petal pink chore coat by Brixton is made from lighter weight canvas, making it that ideal throw on when you just need a little warmth on the shoulders.

Brixton, Philly Chore Coat $59.60

CROPPING TO THE 10S

Last but definitely not least…0ur love for all things 2010 is still peaking, and few things can top the revitalized popularity of the cropped jacket. But we’re not just looking to relive the golden days. We’re spicing things up (pun intended) by mixing this retro style with current must-haves, like midi skirts and raw hem Dad jeans. Here’s some you’ll want right now…

Try to think of something more 10s than dark-washed, faded denim in a cropped jacket. Sure…we’ll wait…

Windsor, Don’t Waist Time Crop Denim Jacket $42.90

Of course, if you are an adidas stan, why not check out their fresh collection of updated crop tops…

adidas, Nuganic Crop Light Insulation Jacket $110

Super cute and so versatile, this cropped hoodie from Windsor gets a 2024 update, courtesy of swapping out the expected cotton for smooth scuba material. The neutral color just seals the deal.

Windsor, Off Duty Babe Luxe Zip-Up Crop Hoodie $36.90

We’re loving the return of the cropped track jacket as well…

Casablanca, Zip-Up Cropped Jacket $519

And finally, we end our list with this sleek, sexy, and altogether beautiful, vinyl cropped jacket by Courreges. This style was originally from the 70s, then fit right in again in the 2010s, and here she is a third time. It’s an investment piece that we’re sure will stand the test of time…and time, again.

Courreges, Reedition Vinyl Cropped Jacket $735
