11 Labor Day Outfits That Just Work

Summertime may be winding down on the calendar, but there’s still plenty of fun and sun to enjoy! Here at ShopLikeHer, we wanted to help you celebrate sending out summer in style, with eleven full fits perfect for your Labor day festivities.

From casual picnics to blowout backyard parties, we have dresses, jeans, shorts, rompers and all sorts of looks to go with them. You could say that we’ve taken the *work* out of getting your fits together (little holiday pun there).

PURE JEAN-OUS

Because they’re as American as apple pie and go oh-so-well with everything holiday.

Our first look is so very Americana. From the one of a kind upcycled vintage jeans by RE/DONE that pairs so well with a chic black corset top from Windsor, and a fun floral belt from Aeropostale. To this we add a pair of sleek, bold shield shades from Blenders from one of their latest drops, a cool collab with Oracle Red Bull Racing called Orange Circuit (part of their Meister X2 collection). Speaking of cool new arrivals, this green/blue thread necklace is showing off one of the Bold Bear pendants from the new collection by TOUS. To all this happiness we finish with Johnston & Murphy’s athleisure-inspired flatform sandals called the Grace.

We love a good color pop, which is exactly what we get when we pair Universal Standard’s dark cuffed denim with Ava & Viv’s hot pink top. But why stop there? Marni’s new season mini bucket bag and these jeweled raffia slides we found on Cato both add to the big Barbie energy. Finally, some additional sparkle from Baublebar’s slider bracelet (get your name in bling!) and just for the fun of it, we finish the fit with these thick rimmed, heart shaped sunnies for under twenty bucks on Zenni.

Show off a little denim on denim this holiday by combining Windsor’s sexy, pleated denim corset with Mott & Bow’s super soft, comfy Mom Jeans. Next, we add a classic with a new twist: Clark’s iconic Wallabee boot in a fresh, turquoise tie-dye. Keeping with our blue on blue theme, My Gems Rock! gives us an eye-catching combo of a necklace with genuine Peruvian Amazonite and pearl. M. Gemi’s convertible crossbody in silver gives a touch of sparkle to this look, and we finish things up with a bold pair of shades courtesy of Jacquemus.

STYLISHLY SHORT

If you put the ‘active’ in activities, a pair of shorts is a no-brainer to keep you moving in style this holiday.

Lot’s of outdoor fun can have you feeling the heat, but this fit is all about keeping your cool. We start with Mott & Bow’s new slub tee. It’s super lightweight and airy, but doesn’t show through. Paige’s vintage pink are made of soft and drapey lyocell that’s breathable, but still looks polished. Hoka’s Clifton 9 was designed to keep athlete’s feet cool when they run, which is perfect for when you’re a gal on the go. Speaking of time-saving, this cute necklace set by Don’t AsK is already set and ready to go, and Dagne Dover’s crossbody bag is a great way to keep your essentials close, but hand’s free. All that’s left is to slide on a pair of stylin’ shades. These icy blue customers from Windsor do the job nicely.

We love a great neutral fit, and this one’s just peachy. We start with the Ella denim short and its charming floral pattern, and continue the flirty fun with this linen smocked tank we found at Target for a steal. Accessories include Circus NY’s Cate slide, and then, just to keep things from going too one-note, we punch up the color with Kendra Scott’s beautiful agate drop earrings, a pair of oversized thick sunnies from Prada and the cutest little bucket bag in burnt orange from Mansur Gavriel.

READY TO ROMP

Besides being an easy ‘one and done’ look, rompers are such a great way to add the flirt of a short dress with all the comfort of shorts.

Check out this cherry red puff sleeve from Windsor. The peasant top and ruffled bottom definitely read cute party fit. Building on this, we add a pair of Nina’s statement espadrilles and Dooney & Bourke’s Florentine bag that’s a perfect size for carrying your major essentials. And how fun are these wood butterfly hoop earrings we found at Cato? All this fit needs is a pair of thick rimmed cat eye sunglasses in classic black, which we found for a steal on Gilt. YW!

This gorgeous green romper can go from casual to dressy with a quick change of accessories. For this fit, we’ve gone casual classy with some sensational seed bead drop earrings by ZAD and seriously Superstar kicks from adidas. A multi-colored crossbody from Tory Burch adds some visual interest and Isabel Marant’s cool white shades round out this outfit in style.

TASTY DRESSING

Because hot summer and cool dresses are delicious together.

When it’s hot, go hauter (oh the puns have returned!). Made of airy, breathable linen, LAKE’s Milly Midi goes full carefree and chic vibe. This dramatic one-shoulder deserves an equally intriguing necklace, namely Satya Jewelry’s 18kt gold plate Starburst necklace. A pair of handmade leather sandals by Beek offer stylish all-day comfort, and a pair of shades from Zenni’s most recent collab with KeKe Palmer continues the bold, louche feel (see more of her collection here). Finally, a vintage inspired, floral printed crossbody sweetly completes the look.

This tropical-meets-vintage print is oh so bright and chic. With an energetic print like this, we want to keep the accessories interesting but not too busy. After all, this dress really is the star. We give our lobes some love with these marvelous crochet drop earrings from Roller Rabbit and a cool blue top handle from Dooney & Bourke that reminds us of the summer sky. A sleek, neutral heel from Nine West and some oversized sunnies from Elie Tahari and you are ready for the party.

SPLISH SPLASH

When the holiday calls for a day at the beach, the lake or the pool, there’s plenty of fashionable fun to be had.

First, can we talk about how utterly adorable this 2-piece from Summersalt and Rifle Paper Co. is? The sweetheart top and tiny ruffles are so fresh with the wildflower print. A top this cute is meant to be seen, which is why we’re pairing it with a gauzy, moderately see-through peplum top from Pink Rose. Joe’s Jean’s The Jessie jean shorts are right in the pink. Speaking of pink, Blender’s new arrival, Neon Angel (from their Palmy collection) is completely barbie-worthy. We finish things off with Reef’s water-friendly platform slide and for just a touch of bling, Zoe Lev’s 14k gold initial necklace is all we need.

Our final fit brings the glam to the beach. Swimsuits for All’s hot pink one-piece is absolutely sexy and ready for a day in the sun. And once you’re out of the surf, LAKE’s white linen is the perfect cover up. These light pink Water Vista slides we found on Reef you might think are too pretty to get wet. Surprise! They’re entirely water-friendly (with grippy soles ideal for navigating slippery ground). Of course, cute jewelry is kind of a must, and these fabulous flower earrings by Eye Candy LA go so well. A fit this good deserves a stunning pair of shades, which these oversized Gucci ones will do. Finally, keep everything easy to reach and in its place with a tropical mesh tote that has plenty of pocket space.
