Our Annual Summer Staples Deals & Steals!!

SLH readers, it’s that time again! Time when we hit up the big sales happening and give you the scoop on great staple items like tees, shorts, sandals, jewelry and more.

One quick note before we move on. There are plenty of places where you can get new stuff for very cheap, and those purchases have their place. But TBH we find the quality of those items can often be…ahem…suspect. Our editors have combed through the internet and summer sales to bring you a list of items that are as good in value as they are in price.

Okay, ’nuff said…on to the shopping!

SUNGLASSES

A good pair of shades is a year round must have, but in summer it really elevates to front and center of your wardrobe. Fashionable high end shades can burn a hole in your wallet faster than a kid with a magnifying glass. The great news is, there are a lot of deals to be had out there. Here are five of our favs for the taking…

Knockaround, Mile Highs in Silver/Rose $22.50 (reg. $30)

Oversized aviators in unexpected colored lenses are the top trending item for sunglasses this summer. And why not? An excellent pair of well-made aviators are instant classics you’ll reach for again and again. So where to find a quality pair for under a hundred? We found these beauties at Knockaround (remember that name because they’ll come up again on this list). Perfectly oversized, these Mile Highs feature slim wire, real metal construction and rubber ear pads that are comfortable for hours. They’re polarized for UV400 protection and have FDA approved impact resistant lenses. It’s no wonder these scored a 4.9 star review from people who purchased them. Grab a pair of these for only thirty bucks and the whole world will look rosy to you.

Dior, Diorama Club Sunglasses $99 (reg. $625)

Speaking of classics, the cat-eye is still going strong as a silhouette this summer. This season’s upgrade is adding a little futuristic twist. These lovelies by Dior are a splendid example. Scoring a pair of designer shades like these can be quite the internet hunt. Lucky you, we did all the work so you can have the score!

EyeBuyDirect, Chorus Round Silver Sunglasses $39 (reg.$60)

Another big trend, oversized, rimless round opticals, is showing up on plenty of must-have lists for summer. These luxe lovelies from EyeBuyDirect are the expensive statement piece you can now have for a lot less. Consider this your Boho best friend.

Knockaround, Pacific Palisades Vintage Rose $18.75 (reg. $25)

Even if you don’t know your set from your match, we’re certain you haven’t missed the massive trend this season in sportswear, particularly all things tennis. Skirts, polos and especially those flat-topped frames. If you’re still scouting around for a great looking pair that won’t set you back, you need these pretty pink sunnies from Knockaround (see? we told you they would pop up again). Thick, vintage style frames that are ready to pair with everything in your closet, at a price that’s pure love. Oh, did we also mention they have Free Shipping on all orders? I think we just did…

Vogue Eyewear + Gigi Hadid, Square Frames $70 (reg. $140)

And for our last, these show just how hip it is to be square. Or rather rectangular it seems. We’ve seen plenty in chunky frames, but finding the equally coveted thin frame variety has usually resulted in a hefty kick to the wallet. Not so with these we found on sale at 50% off. Sleek, streamlined, and Gigi-approved!

A SCORE OF SHORTS

I really don’t need another pair of cute shorts…said no one ever. From Bermudas to belted paperbags, this season’s shorts list is long on options. One thing we never look forward to is the price. Never fear, we’ve got your go-tos right here, all of them nice for the price…

Sam Edelman, The Derby Marbella Jean Short $39.99 (reg. $78)

There are jean shorts, and then there are these. All the bells and whistles you could want – high waisted, perfectly faded, just the right amount of fringe and little side-slit details on the seams (giving you that little extra wiggle space your thighs will love you for). The only thing these were lacking? How about an equally attractive price. Done!

Puma, Classics French Terry High-Waist Shorts $24.98 (reg. $40)

Looking to expand your ath-flow look without dealing with a shrinking bank account? We found these 100% French Terry shorts by Puma at a steal of a price. Ultra-comfy times are heading your way.

Madewell, Broadway Sweater Shorts $39.99 (reg. $78)

Knitwear has been a hot ticket item all season and showing up in all kinds of unexpected options. Case in point, these fun knitwear shorts by Madewell. Super soft and stylish, and at a great price. Rotate these in to refresh your summer fit.

City Sleek, 172Linen-Blend Paperbag Shorts $39.99 (reg. $172)

There’s just something elegant yet relaxing about the paperbag waist. Whether pants or shorts, the silhouette reads polished but not overly stuffy. Combined with chic pinstriping and conceived in light summer linen, these shorts from City Sleek are both timeless and of-the-moment.

SBS Fashion, Black Pocket Bermuda Shorts $22.99 (reg. $45)

For many of us, previous season’s ultra-short shorts trend had us feeling a bit exposed. If you fell into that category, take a welcome sigh of relief because Bermuda shorts are back in a big way. From stretchy bike shorts to loose loungewear, to the trim and tailored (like these we found on Zulily). This silhouette is surprisingly versatile and won’t have you concerned about showing too much while stooping over to pick something up off the floor.

TREMEDOUSLY TRENDY TOPS

Quite possibly the biggest workhorse in your wardrobe. A great summer top can span the silhouettes from laid back casual to funky formal.

Boston Proper, Future is Female Tee $14.98 (reg. $49.50)

You’ll get no arguments from us on this shirt’s message. This graphic tee is spun from super soft 100% cotton with a tailored fit that makes it perfectly presentable either with your fav boot-cut jeans or your flowy-est midi skirt. If you’re looking for a statement tee on the cheap that won’t leave you scratching from inferior fabric, this one is for you.

Michael Stars, Mady T-Shirt $17.76 (reg. $58)

Add some je ne sais quoi to your wardrobe with a well-made, striped shirt. When paired with white shorts or pants, it gives off instant nautical vibes. Add black skinnies and ballet slippers and voila! you’re in fashionable french girl territory. You can even juxtapose it with a printed skirt (provided the colors are similar or at least complementary). If you don’t already have one in your staple wardrobe, this superior, pre-shrunk Supima cotton shirt from the one-and-only Tee Guru, Michael Stars, will last a lifetime and never go out of style.

U.S. Polo A., Metallic Print Polo Shirt $17.99 (reg. $48)

Get your prep on with one of the O.G. brands that has been rocking the polo since the 80s. USPA sells several versions of the three-button front placket that’s been the obsession of fashionistas and frat boys for decades. Our fav is this tailored, slim line version with a fun twist of metallic thread. If you’re not into the larger logo look, they also have smaller logo and no logo options.

A New Day, Short Sleeve Cuff Shirt $8

Sure, you can find white tees just about anywhere. But finding one that’s just right…soft not scratchy, not too see-through but not too thick, easy-fitting but not shapeless and of course, the perfect neck cuff that won’t crinkle or warp after washing. This eight dollar tee from Target (not a misprint, it’s really only eight bucks!) is kind of a big deal on social these days. Comments like “perfect length for half-tucking” and “this is THE perfect white tee” are causing them to sell out on a regular basis. So click on the link above and grab one while you can!

Aeropostale, Floral Tie-Front Crop Top $12 (reg. $34.95)

Get two-trending birds with one top. Flirty, fun floral make this mid-riff baring top a must have. The tie in the front gives it a little whimsy while the ruffles all around add a comfortable bit of coverage.

Baublebar, Mini Alidia Ring $20 each (reg. $44 each)

Another fan favorite, the Alidia ring sells out constantly. Lucky us, not only did we catch them with inventory but they’re also on sale. At twenty bucks each you can get your favorite, or mix and match to your digit’s delight.

Sterling Forever, 14k Plated Butterfly & Daisy Necklace $29.99 (reg. $74)

Double up on some delicate nature-inspired pieces like this butterfly and daisy necklace by Sterling Forever. Normally retails for over seventy, we found it for an absolute steal of a price.

Joomi Lim, Asymmetrical Crystal & Pearl Anklet $95 (reg. $205)

Seoul Korea native Joomi Lim’s edgy jewelry collection is a beautifully mastered blend of naughty and nice. Playful, feminine designs mixed with a modern, industrial edge have earned her quite the fan following on a global scale. This 18k gold plated double string anklet had two charms, a freshwater pearl and three Swarovski crystals and is the perfect finishing touch to your summer lounging look.

Roller Rabbit, Ulani Earrings $15.99 (reg. $38)

Shell-inspired jewelry isn’t just for the beach anymore (although it continues to be perfectly welcome there). 2021 has seen several designers embracing a variety of shells but the current darling of them all is the Cowrie. Interestingly enough, these little shells were once used as actual currency across Asia. Flash your cash with these on sale beauties from Roller Rabbit.

SWANKY SWIMSUITS FOR A SUPER PRICE

Current wisdom has it that August and September are the best time to buy a swim suit. Pardon us if we can’t wait that long. Especially when there are some great deals to be had right now. Here’s a few of our favorites, and if they’re yours too, you’d better move fast because most of these are on clearance which means they’re going, going…gone!

The Little Black Bikini is a staple in just about every gal’s wardrobe. If you don’t have one in yours just yet, today is your lucky day. For the same price as just one half, you can get both the top and the bottom. You’re welcome.

Magicsuit, Green Tropical Ruched One-Piece $49.99 (reg. $162)

Have you been pining over the one-shoulder swim look but just haven’t found the right piece to pull the trigger on? Well this suit has it all – a classic cut, ruched front, great print and that aforementioned single shoulder. It also comes in regular and plus sizes. What could possibly be better? How about that almost 70% off price?

Nautica, Bandeau Swim Top $34 (reg. $68) and High-waist Bottom $27 (reg. $54)

If high-waisted bikinis are what you’re craving, this set from Nautica is yours for just the right price. Added bonus, the straps up top can be completely removed if you prefer a full bandeau look (along with fewer tan lines).

WeWoreWhat, Ruched Cup Tie-Dye One-Piece $69.99 (reg. $175)

The sky is the limit with this high-cut, cloud-inspired tie-dye one piece from WeWoreWhat. Comes in sizes from XS to XL and until further notice, at quite the dreamy price.

Solid & Striped, The Tilda Bikini Top $22.99 (reg. $84) and Bottom $19.99 (reg. $84)

A little stripes are always nice, and the square details really take this two-piece to next level. The one thing that won’t be rising? The cost, with both these pieces collectively come in at 74% off from the regular price of this combined look. Not too shabby!
