Festie Besties: 20 Looks to Take You Center Stage

Music festival season is under way and we have 20 fantastic fits to make your fest.

As the sun shines brightly and the sounds of our favorite artists fill the air, you know it’s fest time. Summer music festivals are the perfect playground to unleash your creativity and embrace the spirit of music and fashion. Naturally, flowing dresses and statement accessories are perennial favorites, but what’s peaking our interest this season? We have the five major trends that are filling our feeds and living rent free in our heads for 2024.

So without further ado, let’s get festive!

CRAVING MORE COW”BELLE”

From Cowboy Carter, to Bella Hadid, to Bad Bunny’s rodeo – this trend is all about embracing the spirit of the Wild West while infusing it with contemporary twists and personal style. Think fringed jackets in vibrant colors, western boots meets urban vibe, embroidered threadwork with spacey embellishments and lots of other creative interpretations to make it all your own.

Here are four full outfits for inspo that you can really hang your hat on.

Starting with something a little sweet and a whole lotta sassy. The core combination begins with Simkhai’s sexy shimmery top in lovely lavender (spoiler alert – it’s actually a bikini top), with an equally flirty tiered mini that’ll sway with you to every tune. Next we slide into some cute embroidered booties, courtesy of Free People. Of course, every cowgirl needs a hat, and this woven one is pink perfection. Looking for some extra credit? Go ahead and layer up with a bracelet set from Saatchi that we found on Gilt for a real steal.

Moving into some fun textures with this next fit. We start with some fab faux suede bootcut pants from Windsor, with some super sexy side laces that go oh-so-well with their rhinestone mesh bustier. Add more textural drama with a pair of silver-studded boots, courtesy of Coconuts. Finally, tip things in your favor with Underwraps’ silver studded hat and an unexpected pair of retro aviators in dark olive green.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Channel some true Americana cowgirl with this next fit, starting with Windsor’s Hustle Crew tube top. And when talking cowboy americana, you can’t go wrong with an OG brand like Wrangler. These vintage style, fringed bottom shorts have been reworked to become your new favorite pair of short shorts. Finally, we add in some great accessories, including Underwraps’ white hat, a pair of denim wrapped big hoops, a kickin’ pair of americana booties and the pièce de résistance, slide on a pair of Blenders sporty Pacers in Bold American.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Well, hello Coastal Cowgirl! This fit is so languid, you’ll be feeling airy all day long. Windsor’s long sleeves with flare cuffs are perforated to let in the breeze, while the cutout details on the bodice and back give plenty of exposure. Not stopping there, we pair this lovely with Matisse’s cutout cowboy boots and CTM’s open weave straw hat. As for accessories, Blender’s Millenia DX will keep you feeling just peachy and we complete the look with a turquoise statement necklace.

SEEING IT THROUGH

Showing plenty of peek-a-boo is straight up fest wear every year. This season though we’re getting even more ‘made you look’ playful. Think crochet all day, marvelous mesh, and so many cut-outs you might be asking where’s the garment?

Speaking of crochet and cutouts, this combo of Raisin’s one-shouldered bikini top and 525 America’s crochet shorts made the goal. This carefree look deserves equally easy pieces. And we found them! Starting with a sherbet and gold pair of shades by Blenders (it’s called ‘Disco Lemonade’…how could you go wrong with that?) and a soft green pair of adidas Gazelle. Extra credit includes a super fun shell and raffia statement necklace and Bunulu’s absolutely adorbs hip bag. You may now approach the stage…

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

This next fit gets a little mesh-y, with Poster Girl’s mesh-chain crop top in cherry red. We’re pairing this show-off with a legs-for-days micro mini denim skirt. Of course we don’t want to skimp on protecting you from the sun, so this cute pageboy hat by Eugenia Kim is just what you need. As for accessories, get lucky with Argento Vivo’s “All the Luck” necklace and then end things on a bling note with Shoevibe’s rhinestone studded high-tops.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

When the festival calls for cutouts with dance floor energy, this lovely lamé mini from Moschino isn’t just another pretty dress. Amp things up further with a pair of equally dramatic shades from Micas, then bring in the color fun with Vans embellished sneaks, a pack of multicolor faux hair accessories and Timbuk 2’s small, but generous sling bag.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Our final fit is fierce fun. Micas 2 piece crochet outfit is a show stopper on its own, but with equally fun accessories, like Birkenstock’s EVA Gizeh sandals in pretty purple and Baublebar’s custom slide bracelet (also sweat and waterproof), and Zenni’s oversized sunnies, we’ve got a day of fun, sun and tunes all ready to go.

RETRO RERUN REMIX

No one can deny the Svengali-like hold that Y2k fashion continues to have over us. But for this fest season, we’re not just staying in our lane with one retro. We’re mixing and matching across several eras, including glam 70s, grunge 90s, and a dash of 80s punk. Think aughties ultra low rise with 70s fringe, or naughties corsets with 80s neon. The only real rule here? Make. It. Fire.

Here’s four outfits for you that are pure retro-remix drip…

First fit, we’re channeling major 90s grunge energy, starting with a b’tching kerchief style top from Windsor, which pairs perfectly with their frayed up, slit denim skirt. Other honorable mentions to this fit include Van’s iconic Old Skool sneaks in a moody floral, a ‘fly’ cap from Needles, some Kurt Cobain-worthy oversized sunglasses (we found these at Target for much, much cheaper than the originals) and finally, a concert-approved clear backpack, detailed with (what else?) butterflies.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

80s with a Y2k twist? Why not! This fit pairs up Windsor’s pink fringe bralette with their adorbs denim mini and adidas’s retro classic, the OG Samba. Our eclectic mix of accessories include a cheery cherry pair of rimless sunnies (in unexpected cloud shapes), a fantastic 18kt gold plate Lotus and Moonstone necklace and some extra long dangling agate drop earrings.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Now this is a fit worthy of Daisy Jones (for more inspo on that, we have an entire article dedicated to her phenomenal style HERE).  We start with an easy one-and-done, faux suede, flared jumpsuit and layer on the accessories. Baublebar’s oversized, gold flower earrings look outstanding with Brixton’s jaunty beret and Blender’s 70s style aviators. All that’s left is to slip into a pair of comfy flatforms from Puma and a ‘just the right size’ fanny pack from Champion.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

For our final, we go Cyber Goth 2.0, with a seriously bada** fit. The star of the show is Windsor’s strapless faux leather mini romper that pairs beautifully with Palladium’s stomping heeled high-tops. Blender’s retro-future Meister X2 shades bring the color pop while Eye Candy LA’s oversized skull hoops and Inkbox’s ‘I Heart Y2K’ tiny, temporary tattoos keeps the moody vibe alive.

DENIM ON DENIM

That’s right, this season we’re continuing to double down on our denim. The Canadian tuxedo carried its way into our hearts from winter and into spring, and yes, we’re still here for it for summer. If you’ve been D-on-D curious but unsure how to approach the trend, a great thing to keep in mind is that (at least for now) tone on tone is the way to go. Of course unless you bought yours as a pair, your pieces won’t be a perfect match, but hey – that’s ok! As long as they’re in the same color family, feel free to creatively combine.

No need to proceed with caution, we have four fantastic examples for you right here…

First off, we begin with one of the season’s huge trends, the denim vest. This cropped, faded blue fellow from Wrangler understood the assignment, as did Aeropostle’s shorty jean shorts, with the cutest crochet pockets peeking out. Speaking of crochet, how cute is this butterfly handkerchief from Cato? You can use it as a head wrap or bandana – there are no wrong answers here! To this we channel some celestial love with planetary earrings created by Satya Jewelry as a collab with social media and astrology guru, Joni Patry, some seriously cool shades from RAEN and we finish things out with a pair of comfy kicks by New Balance.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Next up, this fit is a vision in faded blue. RE/DONE’s puff sleeve midriff top is something truly special you won’t see everywhere (each piece is made from vintage jeans and totally unique). We pair this with some classic 80s mom jeans, courtesy of Mott & Bow and give them a good cuffing in order to show off Matisse’s construction boot-inspired high tops. For accessories, we keep it simple but statement, with Zoe Lev’s chonky signet ring and the perfect crown to this piece, Goorin Bros trucker hat in Queen Bee.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

How fun is this next fit? We combine some leggy shorty shorts with a flirty floral denim top. A piece this perfect deserves some equally amazing accessories. We start below with Cariuma’s floral canvas kicks and hit up top with a cool pearl and evil eye bracelet by Eye Candy LA. Lastly, we slide on some serious statement sunglasses, courtesy of Blenders.

EMBELLISH ME, BABY

Crystals and embroidery and metallic overload…oh my! Fests are the best for showing off your favorite shiny things, and this season is no different. These season we’re seeing disco shimmer with woven-in metals, pearlescent beads mixed with cowgirl rhinestones, kidcore jewelry and tons of metaverse flair.

Here are four looks that shine bright…

Starting with this cool fit that pulls a little punk and a lot of shine. Free People’s celestial-embroidered black leather shorts give plenty of texture that plays nicely with Gauge81’s hot pink satin crop top. We dip into retro-futuristic with Blender’s visor sunnies called (appropriately enough) Vibe Setter. Nina’s metallic silver sneaks keep the glitz going and lastly, we add a leather choker with three oversized, organic-shaped champagne pearls.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

There’s no mistaking the shimmer and shine in this next fit. Windsor’s rhinestone romper is a serious wow moment, made even better with Circus NY silver western boot, a pair of 2-toned star sunnies, and a playful rosette choker.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Finally for our last fit, we marry our glam with a little edge. Starting with RE/DONE’s vintage baby muscle tank with its ironic glittery “Weird” that goes so well with our sparkly sequin shorts by Endless Rose. Color pops keep the playfulness going, including rag & bone’s neon bucket, Torgeis electric yellow trimmed combat boot, Blender’s shot of rainbow sunglasses, and one of our favorite pieces, Joomi Lim’s Pink Lemonade necklace.
