10 Amazing Labor Day Outfits

Summer’s last hurrah is here and we’ll show you how to go out in style with 10 super cute outfits that’ll have you looking hot but feeling cool…

Relief from sticky dog days heat is great, and of course we can’t wait to wear all the new fall fashions…but packing away our cute summer clothes and saying sayonara to those warm summer nights, well, that’s giving us all the feels.

That’s why the Labor Day holiday is like having a good old, unofficial goodbye party. Whether you’re basking at a beach party, casually kicking it at a BBQ, enjoying cocktails and concerts, or any myriad of other activities, now is the time to show off some cute and cool outfits to celebrate summer.

Starting with one of the most popular LD activities – the backyard BBQ. Get a fit that’s put together but not over-thought. We love a little matchy-matchy, and Lulu’s 2 piece vintage print skirt and crop top definitely work. Accessorize with equally cool items, such as Blender’s A Series oversized aviators in a blue mirrored beauty called Dream Twister. The Nizza platform sneaks from adidas have been a runaway hit, so grab a pair now. Add some bling with Kendra Scott’s double strand butterfly necklace and stash your stuff in Jelavu Sydney’s round raffia top handle bag. Done and done!

Is your Labor Day more of a sip-sip-hooray? Late August-early September is the beginning of the “crush” season for most wineries, so it’s a great time to gather your squad and celebrate with some vino. Sundry’s flower-power maxi is an absolute must add to your wine-tasting wardrobe. A floppy brimmed hat and some geometric shades will keep your disposition sunny and not sunburnt. Slide into Beek’s handmade toe-ring sandals and grab a pair of tortoiseshell hoops and you are ready to toast to the summer’s end in style.

Hitting the beach for a Labor Day par-tay? We found this fantastic romper from Rue21 that slides right over your bathing suit to give you instant style. Speaking of style and protection, snap up a pair of Knockaround’s new arrival from their Seventy Nines collection called On The Rocks. Polarized and impact resistant lenses with a nod to vintage, freshened up with amber transparent mixed with tortoiseshell. These fellows will stylishly serve you long after summer. Another new arrival we’re loving are these water-friendly sandals from Reef. Cushy compression molded EVA footbeds make for easy walking in and out of the water, and the grippy soles are made to handle slipper surfaces. And if the salt water hasn’t played nicely with your hair, this terry bucket hat from Aeropostale will keep you looking cute. Finally, get fanciful with these adorbs little seahorse earrings from Eye Candy LA.

With sunny days winding down, a picnic in the park may be your Labor Day destination. Make your fit fun and flirty with a bralette and shorts combination. This white eyelet version from b.tempt’d is perfect for handling the heat (and it’ll look amazing peeking out of those autumn blazers once cooler weather arrives). J. McLaughlin’s icy blue shorts get a whimsical look with some delicate petal cuts. Puma’s chunky heel Mayze sneaks will give you solid standing, and Blender’s North Park shades in Rosemary Beach plus La Manso’s candy-colored fashion ring add some much needed color pops.

Sometimes the best way to spend Labor Day is beating the heat completely by checking out all the wonderful museums around town. Thinking of taking a stroll through some exhibits? A cotton midi dress from Equipment, plus a fun patterned sweater from Beulah give a nod to fall’s approaching color palette while ensuring you’re comfortable in all that AC. Rag & bone’s sculptural sandal and Joomi Lim’s double finger ring add a few artistic touches. And expect to get some serious complements with Mansur Gavriel’s clutch which is a collab with Stamperia Pascucci, whose hand-printed pictures make each of these limited edition purses a unique piece of art.

A lot of folks prefer to scream their Labor Day away. If you’re one of those who take advantage of the many amusement parks open on the holiday, be ready to show off a cute and comfortable fit that’s along for the ride. Go super comfy with Paige’s Flaunt denim jeans (which are made with a larger waist-to-hip ratio to accommodate curvy frames). Of course, the classic pairing is a fitted white tee, and this one by Windsor is quite possibly the most perfect staple piece we’ve come across in a while – fitted, ribbed texture, ample scoop neck and a mid-length that looks just as good tucked as untucked. Accessorizing these iconic pieces is easy with Van’s classic checkerboard slip-ons and Nike’s crossbody bag (which can be worn over the shoulder or across the waist). We finish things up with a gold chain necklace from the wildly popular 8 Other Reasons and Knockaround’s must-have new arrival called Tropi-lectric, with glossy frames in ombré coloring from blue to pink to peach. These polarized beauties are from their Deja Views collection, and with their impact resistant lenses, they’re your best friend even if you drop them.

If you’re lucky enough to have a friend with a pool…or maybe you are the lucky one (in which case, when can we come over?), a Labor Day pool party is kind of a no-brainer. Chilling out with poolside drinks and some tasty food makes for a laid back day. Channel those vibes into a festive fit, starting with a tropical punch of a dress from Boston Proper and Ugg’s hot pink water sandals. Keep the fun going with Baublebar’s earring set, aptly named Worth A Shot (wear one or all of them, depending on your piercing situation). Chloe’s oversized sunset-inspired shades will happily keep those rays out of your eyes, and of course a water-friendly woven clutch rounds things out.

Looking to hit up the parks for the holiday? A fun day hike is a nice change of pace. A cute pair of trail shorts, like these camo cargo-style ones from Sanctuary, are a good starting point for a great fit. Pair it with Patagonia’s Capilene tee, which looks and feels like a soft cotton but is actually moisture-wicking performance tech. Carhartt’s convertible backpack will fit your necessities (and converts to a tote for non-hiking adventures). Keep a cool head with adidas Superlite hat that has UV coverage and side vents for breathability. Finally, Adornia’s shell and beaded bracelet adds that finishing touch. Another great way to celebrate Labor Day is to take in all the festivals happening around your town. Whether it’s art, food, music…or all of the above, supporting local businesses is very much in the spirit of the holiday. Get fun and flirty, with Lulus 2-piece dress set and channel some major Y2K vibes with Zenni’s rimless sunglasses. Kendra Scott’s large gold hoops give your lobes some love, while some comfy, braided leather sandals from Stuart Weitzman will keep the spring in your step all day. And of course, a nice, medium sized bag to keep all your things close at hand is as easy as snapping up Dooney & Bourke’s saddle crossbody bag (bonus – it’s all weather, so even if you get a few sprinkles wandering around you can be sure your items will stay nice and dry).

And for those times when you truly are the social butterfly, with more a few events to go to for your Labor Day – our last fit is a perfect multi-tasker. This romper from Rue21 checks just about every box you need. In go-with-everything black, the eyelet material adds playful textural interest. It has a skirt overlay, giving it the look of a mini dress with all the confidence comfort of a skort. To this we add the Zoey sandal from Johnston & Murphy, with it’s chic metallic leather and cushioned comfort footbed so you feel as good as you look in them. Sporty & Rich’s colorful beaded and pearl necklace adds some attention, as does the Hailey Bieber edition sunglasses from Vogue Eyewear. Last but certainly not least, Van’s Eco Positivity tote is that perfect medium size and the vintage 70s print gives it a dashingly groovy look.
