Sweater Weather – 20 Snuggly Favorites You Should Be Wearing

As summer draws to a close, we’re already dreaming of this Fall’s trending sweaters. Last season was pretty much dominated by the Chunky, but this season promises a welcome return to a variety of styles. We’re talking matching sets, sporty, color pops, cropped, crochet and so much more.

So ready or knit – here we go!

MATCHY-MATCHY

Elie Tahari, Ribbed Shine Cardigan $123.75 & Cami $93.75

Matching sets are trending hard right now, showing up in every configuration of color, texture and style. We’re loving this creamy-gray, go-with-everything cami and cardigan combo from Elie Tahari.

CROCHET ALL DAY

Boston Proper, Crochet Detail Puff-Sleeve $89.50

With all the crafty trends that swept over us these past years, it’s no surprise we would continue to crave crochet fabrics. Hence when we saw this bright green number from Boston Proper we knew we had to have it. The tailored waist, cute puffy sleeves and square neckline just sealed the deal.

COZY AND CROPPED

Windsor, Loving Knit Cropped Sweater $42.90

When it comes to warm and cozy wear, a chunky crop is at the top of the list. This baby blue beauty from Windsor will pair perfectly with this season’s micro mini and especially well with those aughtie-inspired hip huggers.

BE A GOOD SPORT

Wilson, Essex Sweater Polo $88

Upgrade your preppy polo with this knitwear version from Wilson. Made of quick-drying, four-way stretch you’ll immediately wonder why you didn’t have this one in your rotation already.

OF A DIFFERENT STRIPE

Guess, Ilaria Striped Sweater $54.99

A true classic, the striped sweater has never really been “out” of style. This rounded V-neck, dropped shoulder version is giving us serious Y2K vibes.

GIVING THE OLD COLD SHOULDER

Windsor, Off The Shoulder Ribbed Eyelash Knit Sweater $26.90

Cold shoulder cutouts were all the rage last season, but for 2022 we want the whole clavicle, baby. This frothy, super feminine number by Windsor is a perfect specimen that needs to be added to your wardrobe asap.

TRULY IN-VESTED

Rue21, Plus Blue Argyle Sweater Vest $26.99

Once relegated to the uniform of grandpas everywhere, the sweater vest continues to show up and show out for the 2021 fall season. Our current favorite interpretation is the thin knit, which looks fantastic by itself but utterly divine overtop of a big collar blouse and wide leg pant and/or a white tee, jeans and ankle boots. This argyle version from Rue21 is on our WANT list.

PUFF-N-STUFF

Alice + Olivia, Morita Floral Puff Cardigan $229.99

Big rounded shoulders with ballooned sleeves, the Puff Sleeve has been showing up on shirts, jackets, dresses and, of course, sweaters. This flirty floral just sings sweater weather.

GIDDY UP!

Coldwater Creek, Lone Stallion Pullover $99.95

With all our obsession around western-inspired looks this season, you would think we’d be carrying around saddles by now. Ride off into the sunset with this bucky bronco that will look oh-so-cute with this season’s high-waisted, wide leg ankle pants and fall booties.

TURTLE LOVE

Joie, Kaine Turtleneck Sweater $74

Make no mistake, bodycon and ribbed turtlenecks are still in. But this season the cowl neck turtleneck is really coming on strong. This cropped, space dye pattern version from Joie understood the assignment completely.

CUTE AND COLLARED

Guess, Shanely Quarter-Zip Sweater $49.99

Comfortable and versatile, collared sweaters are a great go-to for that quick pulled-together look. Equally at ease with your faded jeans as they are with your mad cute plaid mini.

ON WEDNESDAYS, WE WEAR PINK

RtA, Alba Knitted Sweater $360

If you’ve been curious why hot pink seems to be everywhere right now, welcome to Barbiecore. As the name implies, this trend’s focus is on a whole lotta pink, and the hotter, the better. This RtA sweater will confirm you as a card-carrying member.

INTO THE HOOD

Marc Jacobs, Cropped Knit Hoodie $410

Elevate your loungewear look with some knit wear in the form of everyone’s fav top – the hoodie.

WELL HELLO, PONCHO!

White Mark, Frostine Sweater Poncho $34.99

Just in case you weren’t aware…ponchos and capes are this season’s trendiest outerwear. Keep yourself fashionable and warm with this fuzzy sweater version.

SHRUG LIFE

FATE, 2pc Shrug and Tank Set $57.99

Ah, the cropped shrug. Last season it was the cardigan version that dominated. This season we’re seeing the pullover version gaining speed as we head into fall. Worn together in a set (like above) gives extra visual interest, or consider wearing it over a crisp white button down for a bold look that’s office friendly.

SHEER-LY YOU JEST

rag & bone, Sadie Merino Wool Blend Crew $131.25 (reg. $350)

For those times when you want a cute sweater, but maybe the weather’s not there yet. Or for when you really want to show off your layering skills. Take your pick because see-through sweaters are a definite thing.

BACKING INTO IT

Lulus, Cross Reference Backless Sweater $49

While it may seem a contradiction, open back sweaters are one of the more interesting knitwear trends you probably didn’t see coming. This sage-y green version from Lulus may appear to be a simple scoop neck in the front, but there’s all kinds of visual interest happening in the back. And we’re kinda obsessed over it.

FANTASTIC GRAPHICS

Diane von Furstenberg, Antonella Jacquard Sweater $169

Zig zags, pattern-on-pattern, abstract and more are moving out from your childhood imagination and into the office. Designers are proving that couture can also be young at heart.

THINK INSIDE THE BOX

Emmie Rose, Puff Sleeve Square Neck Sweater $79.99

The wide neckline that runs horizontally is the perfect frame for those statement earrings and bold necklaces that are both back for fall.

ONE-SHOULDER WONDER

Halston, AJ One-Shoulder Sweater $223

Give new meaning to the phrase ‘put your shoulder into it’ with this season’s asymmetrical slant on tops. We’re loving everything about this piece, from the neutral color to the sleek silhouette and of course, who can resist a cozy cashmere knit? Not us!
