Plenty of frills and flirt, we love the dainty lace trim, the sweetheart neckline and all those dainty pleated panels below. A main character piece like this deserves some equally eye-catching accessories. So we add rag & bone’s peachy-pink shades along with Nina’s liquid metallic heels. The final piece though is Parisian brand Clare V’s gorgeous pearl and bead strand necklace that looks like it came straight out of the ocean.

SKORTING THE ISSUE

Not since the 90s have we been so obsessed with skorts. But it’s no wonder really why they’re a great choice, offering the best of both worlds – all flirtiness of your favorite skirt with the practicality of built-in shorts underneath. With so many options out there, this season you can truly take advantage of the long, and short, of it.

Staring with this sexy number. We start with Windsor’s flirty pleated denim skort and match it with Wild Fable’s ruched rosette crop halter. We give our look a little cheeky fun with Zenni’s baby blue heart shaped glasses and kick things up a notch with Birkenstock’s textured sneaks.

Next, we have this sweetly sexy skort romper. This piece has all the elements of a hot date night number. The illusion of a sassy, micro-mini skirt, the trending drop-waist all tied up top (literally) in a cute lacy-trimmed bow. To this flirt, we add some fun. Satya Jewelry’s sterling silver elephant pendant necklace isn’t just a pretty piece – 100% of the proceeds go to the Thai non-profit Save The Elephant organization. A pair of limited edition, retro heels from Nina adds a little sparkle with every step and a small, but roomy mini top handle back from Rebecca Minkoff rounds out this easy summer date night number.

WHO WEARS SHORT-SHORTS?

That would be us, when the last thing we want to deal with is sticky legs. So how short is short? Well, that’s a personal choice these days however generally speaking a “shorty short” is anything will a 5″ or less inseam. One thing is for sure when you’re wearing this option, you’re guaranteed legs for days.

These 4″ inseam white shorts from Joes Jeans definitely fit the category of shorty-shorts. We paired them with Mica’s cute cutout tank and Beach’s equally cute platform sandals. As for the rest of the accessories, we keep things sweet and playful with Patagonia’s patterned bucket hat and Pomellato’s chic oversized shades (which we found for an absolute steal on Gilt!).

We love this next fit, as it combos casual with a touch of elevated. These adorbs distressed jean shorts have a daring 2″ inseam, letting you really show off those beautiful legs. To this very laid-back piece, we juxtapose a beautiful blouson waist top, which you can overlay or tuck into your shorts (the choice is yours!). The rosette accent is its own statement, so a simple pair of earrings is really all you need. As for accessories, pop on a pair of trending flat-top aviators like these sweet shades from Blenders (appropriately called Candy Cove) and slide into a limited edition pair of Cariuma sneaks that are a collab with the MFA Boston featuring iconic works by Katsushika Hokusai (one of the most acclaimed and influential Japanese artists of all time).

This tropical print version by Windsor is just about the cutest we’ve seen this season. Made of lightweight woven fabric and with an easy fit, it’s truly made for when things hit 80 plus. Keep things carefree and colorful with a pair of Birk’s Arizona sandals, updated in fresh faded lime. Speaking of hot, slide one of Knockaround’s best sellers. MAJESTIC MAXIS

Think a long skirt on a hot day seems counter-intuitive? Think again, because a maxi can be just as comfortable as shorts or mini dresses when the temps are climbing. That extra fabric offers air circulation to keep your legs cool, and bonus, plenty of UV protection for those trying to minimize their bottom half sun exposure. And as anyone who’s sported a beautiful billowy maxi can tell you, there’s just something so playful in sashaying your way through a hot day.

Starting with this flowing number by Windsor. With stretchy smocked material up top and generous fabric below, this floral paisley print maxi will take you from beach to brunch without missing a beat. Keep your feet equally comfy with Birkenstock’s new Flexfoam Gizeh platform sandal, then add some oceanic (and trending, BTW) shell jewelry, a nicely sized floppy hat by Cato, and finish off with RAEN’s coral tortoiseshell shades with dark smoke lenses.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Perhaps you’re feeling more of the nautical vibe? You wouldn’t be alone. Striped dresses are hot this season. We’re adoring this one-and-done strapless A-line maxi. All that real estate up top just begs for a chic statement necklace, and this one we found from Bimba y Lola is happy to oblige. A pair of floral textured slides from Circus NY adds some whimsy and we finish this look off with a cool pair of Knockaround shades that are giving major vintage vibes.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Finally, when in doubt, go for the florals. This vacay worthy, tropical floral print maxi from Windsor has everything a hot summer girl needs to live her best travel life. Spaghetti straps for a bespoke fit, sexy side cuts and an equally sexy high slit for showing off your unapologetic love of self (TYVM). Accessorizing this confident fit, we add Tom Ford’s impossible to ignore, oversized sunglasses, mesh Nolita ballet flats, Micas’ hyper-modern pearl curve cuff + pearl stud, and finishing this fit off, Shiraleah’s fire red, woven clutch.
