Glamp Up the Camp

Go bags, harnesses, multi-item belt bags…these utilitarian items that were previously reserved for outdoor enthusiasts are getting a fashionable reinterpretation for the chic.

But don’t worry, you don’t have to be particularly outdoorsy to take in the technical wear trend. Whether you just like looking active or are embracing the full gorpcore movement, we have 10 awesome items that will infuse your wardrobe with the just the right amount of camp-meets-catwalk.

Knockaround, Fast Lane Sports Ultraviolet/Fuchsia $25

Bright, colorful sports glasses aren’t just for active outdoorsy types anymore. This season is seeing specs like these protecting the peepers of influencers and fashionistas alike. Dip into this trend without breaking the bank with these punchy shades from Knockaround. Not only are they a great value, they’re polarized and super comfy (thanks to their rubberized nose pads). Pair them with your favorite flowy boho midi dress for a fresh look.

The North Face, Cropped Puffer Jacket $312

The granddaddy of the gorpcore movement, The North Face jacket made headlines way back in 2019 when Frank Ocean wore one, front row and center at the Louis Vuitton show during Paris fashion week. Fast forward to now and TNF has added a fun refresh to this quintessential camping jacket in the form of cropped silhouettes and pretty pastels. This coat is just begging to be paired with your wide leg jeans and thick-soled Stan Smiths.

Letter Graphic, Belt Bag $20

The humble utility belt has never looks so good. Reimagined in chic handbag material these multi-cargo must haves are cinching the waists of business blazers, flirty sundresses and all things in-between. We found this sharp number for a steal and highly encourage you to add this to your 2021 collection.

Timberland, Allington 6″ Lace Boots $130

While the grips on the soles of these boots resemble the standard TB boot, we wouldn’t recommend a 10 mile hike in these. We would recommend you sport these with your flirtiest mini dress and show the world how you stomp with boss level ferocity.

adidas by Stella McCartney, TruePurpose Loose Tee $85

One of the cornerstones of gorpcore is the intermixing of fashion and function, specifically in the use of materials that would normally be relegated to performance wear. Case in point, this tee created as part of Stella McCartney’s collab with adidas. This isn’t just your friendly neighborhood oversized cotton tee. Made with laser-cut perforations, mesh insets and moisture-wicking material, you could run a quick 5k in this without an ounce of sweat showing. But may we suggest instead pairing it with your favorite, equally loose-fitting cargo pants a fabulous belt, and some serious statement earrings as you and your friends chat it up over some libations? What’s that? You don’t have a fav pair of cargos yet? Well then…

Black Diamond, Notion Cargo Pant $78.95

Relaxed fit? Check. Large cuffs for comfort? Yup. With plenty of pocket space for your items, you may just leave the purse at home. We’re partial to the green, but it also comes in eight other color options so you can mix and match to your gorpy-heart’s content.

Patagonia, Los Gatos Fleece Vest $44.55

Much like with ath-flow, layering is a key component of the gorpcore look. That means you need a mid-layer to really take the look to next level. A fuzzy fleece vest is crucial and no one does it better than Patagonia. Their plushy, deep-pile Los Gatos vest is a hands down fan favorite.

Coal Headwear, Sheridan Beanie $16.47 (reg. $29.95)

Streetwear isn’t the only trend obsessed with beanies. Gorpcore has an equally rabid fan base. While both share the love of the simple cuffed version, the gorpcore  camp is simply enamored of their fab tassels. This version by Coal Headwear is a perfect example.

SmartWool, SmartLoft 60 Skirt $100

The logic of a mini skirt made from puffy material may seem lacking, but remember Gorpcore isn’t about actually camping. Okay, well full disclosure this item actually does serve a purpose as an additional layer for cold weather running. We, however, think it would look so much better paired with a cropped tee and some properly aged Vans.

Knockaround, Mount Evans Gold/Aviator Green $30

Last but certainly not least on our list – Channel your inner mountain ranger with these sleek, gold metal glasses from Knockaround. We challenge you to find an outfit they won’t look great with! And if for some reason you do decide to walk over rough terrain? These guys have impact resistant lenses to handle the bumps, no problem.
