14 Fun Fits for Your Fourth

Summer days are heating up, which means the Fourth is just around the corner.

Independence day is almost here, and with it comes the return of parades, community fireworks and all kinds of get togethers from small family gatherings to large groups. All of us are ready to get out and celebrate!

That said, our intrepid editors are once again offering up some fantastic outfits that will have you looking chic and festive, but still fashionable.

So let’s get the celebration started!

WE’LL BE THERE SHORTLY

Most of us spend our daytime on the fourth in the outside. Hot temps, lots of fun activities…it’s no wonder that shorts are the most popular clothing item. So here’s our take on some great short combos you’ll love…

This first look is pure outdoor comfort Americana. We start with these cool, distressed denim shorts that come with peek pockets of stars and stripes (giving a little love to old glory without going overboard). We pair that with Michael Star’s classic ribbed tank. Baublebar’s tiny cherry studs give just a touch of bling, while Cariuma’s comfy premium sneaks and Blender’s sporty Pacer shades give us pure red, white and blue vibes.

Declare your love for denim blues in this next fit. Cupshe’s supercute square neckline romper can be worn tied for a tailored look, or sans belt for a billowy, open feel…totally your choice! This next fit has us a little star-struck, with Juniper + Lime’s star embellished top which pairs so nicely with a breezy, plaid linen skort. Rebecca Minkoff’s stylish belt bag keeps your items close and hands-free. Keep the chic going with Dolce & Gabbana’s sleek white sunglasses, then add a little texture with Mica’s fringe slides. Finally, just to add a pop of color up top, we bring in Kenneth Jay Lane’s multi-colored crystal hoops.

Planning on hitting the beach, pool or lake for your Fourth festivities? Then this next fit is for you. Birkenstock’s EVA sandals are as water-friendly as you can get. As for looking cute when you cover your suit, we have this lovely lacy top from the Kooples that pairs perfectly with Unionbay’s roll up cargo shorts. Dooney & Bourke’s stylish striped crossbody has coated cotton (so a little splash here or there won’t hurt). As for accessories, we keep things easy with Ray-Ban’s polarized aviators and some denim flower studs.

Finally, if your festivities are fully focused on a lot of time out in the heat, keep your cool with this flirty floral romper from Sugarlips. Made from lightweight material and just a bit of stretch, it pairs perfectly with some equally easy pieces. Birkenstock’s Mayari sandals are both cushy and cute (with a contoured cork-latex footbed to keep your feet happy all day long). INSPIRED DRESSING

Prefer a summer dress for your holiday? We’ve got looks that’ll show your stars and stripes without making you look like you took the flag and turned it into a maxi dress (unless that’s your thing, in which case – go for it!).

Minimal and festive can co-exist with some careful curation. We start this fit with one of the biggest trenders this season – the tank dress. Micheal Star’s version is the perfect shade of blue, with plenty of ribbed stretch and sits at that Goldilocks ‘just above the knee’ area, making it ideal for a variety of events. To this we pair Birkenstock’s minimalist white sneaker, a pair of white sunnies from Zenni that are truly the cat’s meow and a rich, deep red crossbody by TOUS. As for our bit of bling? These mid-size hoops have all the R,W&B right there to pull the whole look together.

This next fit will have you looking red hot. Cato’s cherry red flutter dress looks amazing by itself, but when we add some fun accessories, it really turns into one great 4th fit. Blender’s American Icon shades and Pitch Navy’s tassel earrings are festive without going too kitschy. Balance out the outfit with luxe pieces, in this case Karl Lagerfeld’s chic backpack/crossbody bag and Schutz’s crystal embellished sandals.

Next, we go a little nautical with 89th & Madison’s knit mini dress. Adding some stars to those stripes, we take Kendra Scott’s silver earrings, then add some dashes of red with Mansur Gavriel’s mini bucket bag and Matisse’s gladiator sandals (neutral with just a bit of red so it’s not so matchy-matchy). Finally, we slide on a pair of Blender’s A Series shades called Blue Angels, and you are all set for the festivities.

This next fit is pretty as a picnic. Windsor’s red and white gingham dress is pure Americana meets sweetheart chic. To this we add M. Gemi’s red hot slides and Baublebar’s anklet set (anklets are super trending right now). All this fit needs left is a charming botanical print wristlet from Hobo and RAEN’s sexy square frame shades.

Our last dress fit features another nod to this season’s obsession of all things denim. We start with the main character – an adorbs mini suspender dress by Agnes Orinda (comes in sizing up to 5x). To this, we add some star power, first with Juniper + Lime’s sparkling stars t-shirt top and then with a pair of thong sandals with plenty of popping americana stars. The rest of our accessories add the twinkle and shine, courtesy of Genevive’s blue crystal hoops, Hobo’s polished leather belt bag, and last but not least, Blender’s marvelously mirrored Starlet shades in Sky Mistress.

PATRIOTICALLY POSH

If your Fourth festivities are less BBQ and more private party, you still want to create a celebratory look, just a bit more upscale. Here are some fantastic inspiration outfits that are both posh and patriotic.

This deep blue, satin pant from Elie Tahari has jumping for joy. It pairs beautifully with Windsor’s ethereal chiffon top (with ET’s white tank underneath).  Infusing the look with some additional R,W&B spirit are Nina’s rouge red rosette clutch and Guiseppe Zanotti’s crystal embellished heels. The final touches are soft blues, courtesy of Zenni’s blue tortoiseshell shades and a pair of shell drop earrings.

Gentle Monster’s iridescent blue oval sunglasses are next, followed by Mica’s beautifully bowed rhinestone pumps. We end with a pair of long drop earrings from Baublebar, and are ready to head to the party.

For our last luxe look, we go all out with the tailored white suit. Satin detailing on the collar and the waistband add just the right touch of festive. Certainly there is no denying Madison’s festive red metallic t-shirt, which is made in Italy by hand by a successive process of foil overlaying to achieve the perfect results.
