Festie Besties: 20 Looks to Take You Center Stage

Music festival season is under way and we have 20 fantastic fits to make your fest.

As the sun shines brightly and the sounds of our favorite artists fill the air, you know it’s fest time. Summer music festivals are the perfect playground to unleash your creativity and embrace the spirit of music and fashion. Naturally, flowing dresses and statement accessories are perennial favorites, but what’s peaking our interest this season? We have the five major trends that are filling our feeds and living rent free in our heads for 2023.

So without further ado, let’s get festive!

CRAVING MORE COW”BELLE”

From Coastal Cowgirl, to Western Barbie, to boot-scootin’ Space Bae – this trend is all about embracing the spirit of the Wild West while infusing it with contemporary twists and personal style. Think fringed jackets in vibrant colors, western boots meets urban vibe, embroidered threadwork with spacey embellishments and lots of other creative interpretations to make it all your own.

Here are four full outfits for inspo that you can really hang your hat on.

Starting with something a little sweet and a whole lotta sassy. The core combination begins with Windsor’s sexy shimmery top in lovely lavender, with their equally appealing denim shorts that feature a tie-front, complete with its own laces. Next we slide into some sleek shield sunnies by Blenders and Circus NY’s lavender metallic booties. Of course, every cowgirl needs a hat, and this woven wonder by Boston Proper is embellished to the nines. Looking for some extra credit? Go ahead and have some temporary fun in the form of Inbox Tattoo’s “This is Bull” temporary tattoo. It’ll stay on through all the dancing, no matter how much of a sweat you kick up, but then fades after a week or so.

Moving next into some fun textures with this next fit. We start with some distressed white denim with a touch of rhinestone fringe from Rue21 and pair it with Sugar Flower’s unapologetic “Big Hoops and Daisy Dukes” fitted tee. Both pieces offer sizing up to 3X. We load on the fun with Peter Grimm’s Winslow hat and a pair of cow printed booties. And to ensure your day stays rosy, we slide on these pink-tinted sporty frames by Oakley.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Channel some big coastal cowgirl energy with this next fit, starting with the Queen of Country herself, courtesy of Red Bubble’s fitted scoop tee. Lulus’ western boots will look fabulous peeking from underneath Windsor’s Starry-Eyed skirt. Up top, we have our big statement with Ella & Elly’s black lace flower choker (don’t worry, it’s light as air) and finish things up with some banded beads atop Simplicity’s straw cowboy hat.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Come on, Barbie, let’s go party! This fit is so coquettishly cowgirl + plenty of barbie channeling, you may have your hands full fighting off all the *just beach boys*. Sugarlips’ flowery satin romper is exactly something our girl B would love to wear, especially when we pair it with playful accessories such as Zenni’s rimless heart-shaped sunnies, Eye Candy LA’s blooming floral earrings and Windsor’s kickin’ silver rhinestone boots. Of course nothing tops this amazing pink and sequined cowgirl hat, which comes with its own built-in tiara…

SEEING IT THROUGH

Showing plenty of peek-a-boo is straight up fest wear every year. This season though we’re getting even more ‘made you look’ playful. Think crochet all day, marvelous mesh, and so many cut-outs you might be asking where’s the garment?

Speaking of crochet and cutouts, this combo of Windsor’s Slash of Style crop top and Boston Proper’s crochet shorts understood the assignment completely. This carefree look deserves equally easy pieces. And we found them! Starting with a sherbet tie-dyed bucket hat from adidas and Cato’s transparent jelly slide (complete with colorful flowers). Keeping things bright, we finish this look with Blender’s A Series aviators in Kiwi Dreams and Satya’s medallion necklace, made in 18k gold plate with white topaz, displaying the constellation of the Pleiades (the sign of Sisterhood).

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

This next fit gets a little mesh-y, with Poster Girl’s mesh-chain crop top in cherry red. We’re pairing this show-off with a legs-for-days micro mini denim skirt. Of course we don’t want to skimp on protecting you from the sun, so this cute pageboy hat by Eugenia Kim is just what you need. As for accessories, get lucky with Argento Vivo’s “All the Luck” necklace and then end things on a bling note with Shoevibe’s rhinestone studded high-tops.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Seeing is believing in this next fit. A gorgeous sheer maxi in delicate swiss dot with a sparkling Lumiere suit underneath creates quite the conversation piece. Keeping the mix and match vibe going, we juxtapose Ella & Elly’s romantic rose choker with Nina’s rugged combat boot. Bringing in the chic, we complete this look with Zenni’s oversized square sunglasses in lovely emerald green.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Our final fit is fierce fun. Windsor’s oversized chain crop top is a showstopper on its own, but goes fire when paired with some hot pink crochet shorts from Rue21 and Circus NY’s acid green flatform sandals. As for accessories, we love Baublebar’s customizable jelly bracelet (water resistant, sweat proof, extra flexible, and super cute). Love Stories’ floral bucket adds a sweet touch while Versace’s shield sunglasses are pure luxe.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

RETRO RERUN REMIX

No one can deny the Svengali-like hold that Y2k fashion continues to have over us. But for this fest season, we’re not just staying in our lane with one retro. We’re mixing and matching across several eras, including glam 70s and a dash of 80s punk. Think aughties ultra low rise with 70s fringe, or naughties corsets with 80s neon. The only real rule here? Make. It. Fire.

Here’s four outfits for you that are pure retro-remix drip…

First fit, we’re channeling major 80s glam rock energy, which starts with a b’tching zebra print dress from Windsor. Then we pour on the power with the one-and-only Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star hi tops in dark denim. Joomi Lim’s fiercely spiked chain choker and Knockaround’s sunny yellow aviators give a great color pop. But the cool pièce de résistance comes from the new line of hot nail strips from Inkbox Tattoos (they’re super easy to apply and last for weeks).

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

80s with a Y2k twist? Why not! This fit pairs up Windsor’s neon green one-shoulder top with some adorbs denim shorts and Clark’s retro classic, the Wallabee. Our eclectic mix of accessories include a cheery cherry pair of rimless sunnies (in unexpected cloud shapes), a fantastic set of La Manso rings (which we found for a steal on Farfetch) and topping things off – an oversized pageboy hat in neutral tan.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Now this is a fit worthy of Daisy Jones (for more inspo on that, we have an entire article dedicated to her phenomenal style HERE).  This swirling patter two piece set is made of super lightweight fabric, so you’ll breathe easy all day long. Of course what goes better with this than a classic pair of gold hoops? These statement ones from KJL are totally tubular, and the back portion continues the connection giving this hoop set even more drama. Now, you could go safe with a cute pair of booties, but hey, this is Fest after all. So add some 2023 into the mix with some super chunky flatform sneaks by Berness. And finally, we grab a pair of Knockaround’s vintage inspired Pacific Palisades sunglasses in Dusty Rose.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

For our final, we go Goth 2.0, which we’re pretty sure would be Wednesday approved…if she were heading to Electric Forest, that is. Skip the sweaty, itchy lace and tulle, but keep all the see-through drama with a black crochet romper instead. Windsor’s blingy black hat gives some sweet visual interest, while some mega statement skull earrings by Eye Candy LA keeps things from getting too cute. As for your feet, give them serious stomping power with buckled patent leather boots by Kurt Geiger.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

DENIM ON DENIM

That’s right, this season we’re continuing to double down on our denim. The Canadian tuxedo carried its way into our hearts from winter and into spring, and yes, we’re still here for it for summer. If you’ve been D-on-D curious but unsure how to approach the trend, a great thing to keep in mind is that (at least for now) tone on tone is the way to go. Of course unless you bought yours as a pair, your pieces won’t be a perfect match, but hey – that’s ok! As long as they’re in the same color family, feel free to creatively combine.

No need to proceed with caution, we have four fantastic examples for you right here…

First off, the easiest way to make two pieces of denim match perfectly? Wear a one piece that looks like separates. This tube dress by Windsor is spot on perfect. To this we channel some celestial love with planetary earrings created by Satya Jewelry as a collab with social media and astrology guru, Joni Patry. A daisy-flower embroidered bucket hat and some stylish two-toned transparent frame Vogue sunglasses add a bit of whimsy. We finish things out with a pair of comfy kicks by New Balance.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Next up, this fit is a vision in faded blue. RE/DONE’s puff sleeve midriff top is something truly special you won’t see everywhere (each piece is made from vintage jeans and totally unique). We pair this with some classic 80s mom jeans, courtesy of Mott & Bow and give them a good cuffing in order to show off Matisse’s construction boot-inspired high tops. For accessories, we keep it simple but statement, with Zoe Lev’s chonky signet ring and the perfect crown to this piece, Goorin Bros trucker hat in Queen Bee.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

How fun is this next fit? We take denim matching to next level, thanks to a pair of blue and lavender color-blocked jeans and Ganni’s amazing embroidered denim crop top. A piece this perfect deserves some equally amazing accessories. We start below with Van’s high tops in eggplant and hit up top with a cool pearl and evil eye bracelet by Eye Candy LA. Lastly, we slide on some serious statement sunglasses, courtesy of Prada.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Finally, here’s a fun interpretation of denim on denim. Instead of the expected top and pant/short combo, we take Boston Proper’s flirty puff sleeve jacket and pair it with 3juin’s over-the-knee denim boot. These two go great with some color pops, including Windsor’s strappy mini dress in creamsicle, some golden tortie sunnies by Saint Laurent and Baublebar’s statement medallion necklace from their Tarot Card collection.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

EMBELLISH ME, BABY

Crystals and embroidery and metallic overload…oh my! Fests are the best for showing off your favorite shiny things, and this season is no different. These season we’re seeing disco shimmer with woven-in metals, pearlescent beads mixed with cowgirl rhinestones, kidcore jewelry and tons of metaverse flair.

Here are four looks that shine bright…

Starting with this cool fit that pulls a little punk and a lot of shine. Free People’s celestial-embroidered black leather shorts give plenty of texture that plays nicely with Gauge81’s hot pink satin crop top. We dip into retro-futuristic with Blender’s visor sunnies called (appropriately enough) Vibe Setter. Nina’s metallic silver sneaks keep the glitz going and lastly, we add a leather choker with three oversized, organic-shaped champagne pearls.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

There’s no mistaking the shimmer and shine in this next fit. Windsor’s sequined fringe romper is a serious wow moment, made even better with Circus NY silver western boot, Rue21’s ombré dripping heart sunnies, Lauren Rubinski’s playful Love beads and a multi-colored pastel bucket hat from adidas.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Oops, we did it again! Embrace the Y2k with this fit that would look right at home on Britney circa early aughts. We have lots of bling, starting with a cute one-shoulder glitter top (psst! it’s actually a bikini top) along with some sequin pocketed denim shorts by Udear. Next we add some glitter cat eye sunnies and some flower-power boots by Dingo Poppy. Of course the crown on this queen of a fit is the baby pink bucket hat by Juicy Couture, which naturally goes so well with a pair of massive, blingy hoops.

FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

Finally for our last fit, we marry our glam with a little edge. Starting with RE/DONE’s vintage baby muscle tank with its ironic glittery “Weird” that goes so well with our sparkly sequin shorts by Endless Rose. Color pops keep the playfulness going, including rag & bone’s neon bucket, Torgeis electric yellow trimmed combat boot, Blender’s shot of rainbow sunglasses, and one of our favorite pieces, Joomi Lim’s Pink Lemonade necklace.
