Cooling weather doesn’t have to mean giving up all of your favorite summer pieces. Our editors are taking 5 favorite summer items and remaking them into the perfect Fall fits…
We are now officially into what many call the “in-between seasons”. That’s a sweet way of saying that weather-wise, our days are about to get pretty dysfunctional. But navigating these transitional periods doesn’t have to be equally unpredictable. We’ve got more than a few awesome ideas on how to take some of your current fav pieces (i.e. summer looks) and give them great duality by restyling them with some choice fall-friendly pieces.
Shall we begin?
#5 – THE BABYDOLL DRESS
Lulus, Don’t Worry Baby Tie-Strap Babydoll Dress $48
Babydoll dresses and summer are like Holland and Zendaya…adorably made for each other. And while we still have those sunny days and warm sultry evenings, a burgundy beauty like this one from Lulus will see plenty of use. But for those cooler days? Hey, there’s no reason to put this baby in a corner (of the closet, that is). Here’s a whole new fall-friendly fit for you…
Add an under layer that’s seriously eye-catching, as we did with a bold patterned, puff sleeve turtleneck shirt from Diane von Furstenberg. Next, grab a pair of this fall’s fav, the knee high platform boot. These bone colored beauties from Sam Edelman are perfect. As for accessories, we highly recommend you give this fall’s Baker Boy hat trend a try. This gray wool one from Manokhi’s 2022 season will look fabulous. Wear it with a jaunty head tilt to the right and flanked on either side with Baublebar’s substantial 1.65″ diameter gold hoops.

#4 – THE WHITE JEAN
NYDJ, Teresa Wide Leg Ankle Jeans $92.98
To anyone still thinking you can’t wear white after Labor Day…please join us in the 21st Century, thank you. We’re guessing you’ve already seen a lot of use sporting this summer’s white denim in the season’s wide leg, cropped cut. With such a stylish silhouette, don’t be in a rush to pack these pants away!
Give your whites a fall flush by pairing them with some autumnal browns. Windsor’s Corduroy cropped jacket is a staple you’ll keep all season long, and goes sweetly with Sorel’s high heeled suede boot. Lean in to some of fall’s big trends with a hot pink turtleneck that’s pure Barbiecore and the unexpected, but equally strong jewelry trend of brooches. This butterfly inspired resin beauty from Kenneth Lane will look fresh and youthful, resting just below the cropped jacket’s lapel.

#1 – THE WHITE TANK
rag & bone, The Essential Rib Tank $95
Coming in as one of the number one staples of any summer wardrobe, the humble white tank top truly is a master of all fits. One moment, it’s as casual as they come when matched with jean cutoffs and the next, elevated elegance when paired with a chiffon maxi. All things being equal, we all feel a bit sad when we think it’s time to put away our tanks.
But we’ve saved the best for last, because there’s a huge trend happening right now in fall fashion. And at its center is none other than the humble white tank. We’re talking about tank + dress pants that’s been serving up all sorts of fun combinations on the F/W runways. Juxtaposing the casual material of the tank top with luxurious items is at the heart of this trend. Here in our example we’ve added Equipment’s tactically sumptuous silk trousers and a touch of monogram love with Gucci’s new season version of their Marmont belt. Rounding out the accessories is a fantastic fawn-colored pair of loafers from M. Gemi and at last, AuRate NY’s tiny gold bar earrings.
